Q: What is a modular closet system?
A: A modular closet system is a customizable storage solution made up of interchangeable components—like shelves, drawers, hanging rods, and cabinets—that can be arranged to fit your space and needs. Unlike traditional built-in closets, modular systems are flexible, often come in pre-made kits (from places like IKEA, The Container Store, or Home Depot), and can be installed in reach-in, walk-in, or open-wall setups.
Q: What closet systems do you install or have experience installing?
A: If it comes in a flat pack, kit, or pre-fabricated format, chances are we can install it! We install all pre-fabricated modular closet systems from:
1) IKEA:
a) Boaxel: a wall-mounted, open shelving systems
b) Pax: a wardrobe/cabinet-style with lots of customization
2) Home Depot:
a) ClosetMaid: a budget-friendly modular system offering both wire shelving and laminate kits of all sizes
b) Evolution Systems (StyleWell): a sleek, floor-based modular system with pre-sized units and soft-close drawers, ideal for creating a built-in look on a medium budget.
3) The Container Store:
a) Elfa: a wall-mounted wire or wood decor closet systems
b) Avera: a semi-custom veneer, modern look
c) Laren: a premium built-in look, higher-end finish systems
4) Easy Closets: Online design + shipped direct; wall-mounted or floor-based kits—popular for DIYers but often need pro install
5) Modular Closets: Brand name—offers pre-designed kits or custom configurations using their online planner)
Q: Can you help me plan or configure my closet layout?
A: While we don’t offer full design services, we’re happy to review your plans, provide guidance based on experience, and ensure your system is installed efficiently and accurately. We recommend using the brand’s planning tool (like IKEA's PAX Planner or The Container Store’s Elfa Design Center) before booking your installation.
Q: How long does a modular closet assembly usually take?
A: It depends on the size and complexity of the setup. A small standalone wardrobe can take 1–2 hours, while a full custom IKEA Pax system may take half a day to 2 full days to complete.
Q: Do I need to prepare anything before the installation?
A: Yes, we recommend clearing out your closet completely and removing any existing shelving or hardware unless discussed otherwise. This helps us start immediately and keeps your installation on schedule.
Q: Will you secure the closet system to the wall?
A: Yes. Most modular systems require wall anchoring for safety and stability—especially tall units or heavy drawer bases. We take care to find studs or use appropriate anchors depending on your wall type.
Q: What types of walls can you mount closet systems on?
A: We work with drywall, plaster, brick, and concrete surfaces. Some specialty materials or unusual conditions may require additional prep or tools, which we’ll discuss ahead of time if applicable.
Q: Do you do carpentry or mitering work?
A: Not at this time. We focus on assembly and installation of modular systems. Any structural work, trim customization, or finish carpentry would need to be handled separately.
Q: Will you dispose of the packaging?
A: No but we’ll break down and stack boxes neatly for recycling. Removal and haul-away is not available at this time.
